Music and Festivity at the Holiday Dinner

December 9, 2019

Student musiciansThe College’s choir, handbell and jazz ensembles, and chamber singers brought their talents to an evening of food and festive music.

The annual Holiday Dinner, held December 7 inside beautiful Memorial Chapel, welcomed guests to a night of enthralling performances from dozens of Whittier College students.

A toast from President Linda Oubré and the new choral director, Alexandra Grabarchuk opened the evening’s program which included a ringing handbell rendition of Sleigh Ride, a Georgian folk polyphony from the choir, the jazz musicians gifting the audience with Miles Davis’ Walkin’, and much more.

The event is held each year in support of the Choir Tour Fund, which allows students to take their performances on the road and gain valuable life experiences. Recently, the choir—which is open to students of all majors—toured in the Southeastern United States, Northern California, Hawai’i, New Orleans, and Mexico.
