Students across San Diego County have started to return to school and parents continue to have questions regarding health and public safety.
San Diego Superintendent of Schools Paul Gothold ’90, MA’97 was part of a virtual panel of health, school, and government officials—Learning Curve: Back to School—aimed at giving families the opportunity to hear from experts directly, get data and facts regarding COVID-19 and their student's school life, as well as get some of their questions answered.

Gothold has led San Diego County schools since 2017. Before that, he served as superintendent of the Lynwood Unified School District where he championed systemic changes to improve student outcomes.
Gothold has more than 25 years in K-12 education with a focus on building school systems with equity at the core. He has a proven track record of supporting quality professional learning for teachers, backing innovative ideas, and putting students first.
Gothold received his doctor of education from the University of Southern California and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Whittier College, where he has also served as an adjunct professor.
