Remembering Kavari "Doji" Degree

February 24, 2022

Whittier College recently lost a member of the campus community. First-year Kavari “Doji” Degree was a bright young man with tremendous promise. He was a biology major at Whittier and a graduate of Burns High School in Lawndale, North Carolina. Doji was 18 years old.

"Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Doji’s family, close friends, and the students, faculty, and staff who came to know him well. He will be missed," read a message from College leadership.

An in-person gathering to remember Doji and mourn as a community was held on Thursday, February 24, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in North Lawn.

Students are encouraged to pay close attention to their emotional wellbeing and to take advantage of the opportunities to come together with others.
