With the goal of becoming a high school music teacher, Jacklyn Waight ’18 spent her summer diving into the world of the creative arts as an intern with the Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles.
Working in the Center’s education department, Waight assisted with implementing the Institute for Educators, a week-long, intensive summer professional development program where educators learn how to integrate the arts into core curriculum. She also helped produce various other education-related events hosted by the Music Center this summer.
“In the future, I hope to be a strong advocate for arts education, mentor future generations, and be a great resource for students in all aspects,” said Waight. “Being at Whittier has taught me great communications skills, time management, and efficiency, which was very helpful when I had to teach myself new skills and working big events for the first time.”
