Mercedes Brookins with book, You Deserve a Happily Ever AfterWhittier College Theatre and Communications Arts major Mercedes Brookins ‘22 has self-published her first book, You Deserve a Happily Ever After

Brookins poetry collection is a gripping journey about finding yourself, as her book description says, "through self-love, forgiveness, recovery, and acceptance." Brookins showcases that in spite of the many perils of life, everyone deserves their very own happily ever after.

Brookins worked over the summer to get the project completed.

"A lot of poems were already written when I started putting them together this summer but I still had to decide which poems to include and where, and I did a lot of editing and revising over and over again," she explained. "I had to be really patient with myself, but Barnes and Nobles helped a lot in terms of formatting."

Brookins is a regular contributor to Quaker Campus (QC), providing a plethora of insightful and perceptive articles. In addition to her theatre major, she is double minoring in English and film studies. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Brookins plans to publish more poetry books and ultimately aspires to become a film director and screenwriter.

You Deserve a Happily Ever After is available to order exclusively through Barnes & Noble. Read more about Brookins book in a recent QC article
