An Evening of Music on Campus

February 20, 2019

Vocalist on stageShowcasing the talent of Whittier students, the music department hosted Cabaret and Coffee, a casual concert of Broadway and popular songs performed by student vocalists. The show also featured a trio of professional musicians.

The audience was treated with coffee and pastries while students took the stage to perform songs in every style, from ballads to belting.

The event was conceived and organized by Whittier College artist-in-residence Melissa Landis in order to give students an exciting new opportunity to share their talents with the community.

“[Landis] loves to organize performances for us all,” said Sydney Summers ’19, a music and theatre double-major and vocalist in the cabaret. “She was especially excited about this one because she thinks it’s important to be able to collaborate with musicians outside of our little bubble and get a true feel for live performance on a grander scale.”

Student performers included: Garret Almonti ’19, Sabrina Astengo ’21, Michael Atwood ’19, Stephee Bonifacio ’20, Felicia Delgado ’21, Lauren Estrada ’20, Ciara Madigan ’20, Samantha Paladini ’20, Jacob Shore ’19, Sydney Summers ’19, Ethan Trejo ’19, and Kevin Weissinger ’19.
