President Herzberger Visits D.C. to Advocate for Higher Education

group stands in front of state capitolPresident Sharon Herzberger traveled to the nation’s capitol with dozens of leaders in higher education to talk about the Higher Education Act (HEA) reauthorization bill being considered by Congress. 

The visit was part of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day. 

The group visited over a dozen Congressional offices – including both California Senator’s offices – to discuss student financial aid, Dreamers, and DACA issues, as well as HEA reauthorization proposals. The group also participated in Steps to College at the Mexican Consulate General in Sacramento, where they brought over 5,000 students to the Consulate to learn about attending and affording college.
