Everbridge Health Screening/Contact Tracing Apps

Breadcrumb

Everbridge provides a fast and convenient way for students, faculty, and staff to complete the required health screening before accessing campus, report a positive COVID-19 test, and leverage technology to facilitate campus contact tracing efforts.

Your personal data is safe with Everbridge, which has been granted 24 third-party global security certifications.

Reporting COVID-19 symptoms, exposure, or a positive test is mandatory. Using Everbridge for contact tracing is strongly encouraged. Everbridge does not track your location. The app employs mobile proximity tracing between people who are running the app on their phones. Using Bluetooth low energy technology, the phones exchange unique identifiers when people pass within 6 feet of one another for 15 minutes or more in a 24-hour period (close contact). The users’ location is not necessary because the app only needs to determine if the users are close enough for long enough to risk infection. When someone reports a positive COVID-19 test, the Compliance Team will be able to notify you if you have been exposed and advise next steps.

The app is only as effective as the number of individuals who download it. During remote operations, residential students and employees working on campus are asked to activate contact tracing. Please opt in!

Use of Everbridge streamlines the College’s compliance responsibility and will help us keep each other safe. When we are all back on campus, proximity tracing will eliminate the need to rely on someone’s memory of everyone they were in close contact over the preceding 24 hours. The Compliance Team will be able to notify exposed individuals quickly and prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus.

Part 1: Update your contact information

Before downloading the app, ensure that your contact information is up-to-date and that you have your cell phone number listed.

  • Log into My.Whittier.edu
  • Find the "Personal Information" module under the "For Students/Staff/Faculty" tab
  • Update information as needed. You can choose between updating your addresses and phones, email addresses, and emergency contacts. You  must list a cell phone number for Everbridge to work properly. Use the dropdown menu to ensure you have selected the correct phone type.
