Safety Protocols for Fall 2021 Announced

August 3, 2021

In anticipation of your return to campus, Whittier College has established protocols to provide a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Please check out the COVID-19 section online to read our policies, prevention measures, and FAQs

Since spring 2020, the COVID-19 Compliance Task Force, which includes student representation, has been following the pandemic situation very closely—attending regular briefings from the Health Department and meeting with other colleges and universities—to keep pace with the appropriate guidance and recommendations that we need to implement a safe return to campus.

Whittier College was among the first colleges in the country to mandate the vaccine for students and employees. Public health experts agree that vaccination is the most effective protection from COVID-19 and the Delta variant. Moreover, even before L.A. County renewed its mandate for wearing masks indoors, the College had already concluded that it would be in the best interest of the campus community to require masks inside buildings.

As a reminder, fall 2021 classes will begin Tuesday, August 24, and we plan to be fully re-opened, with classes held on campus. We welcome your questions which can be directed to covidtaskforce@whittier.edu.

Together we can keep the Poet community healthy as we return to campus in August.
