General Questions

When is Orientation? What’s happening during Orientation?

For students entering Whittier College for the fall 2020 semester, Orientation begins in late July. Between July 28 and September 8, students will be able to attend live workshops and participate in asynchronous programs. . New students will attend sessions and events created to help them successfully transition into Whittier College. 

Do I have to sign up for Orientation?

Yes, we ask that all new Poets register for workshops on the schedule so we can properly prepare for your participation. 

How will we accommodate students and guests with disabilities?

All Orientation programs are designed to accommodate all students and guests, including those with disabilities. We encourage students to contact Student Disability Services at 562.907.4825 or for more information.

What do students need to bring to Orientation?

We recommend attendees have something to take notes on available during all workshops. 

Families and Guests

What does family/guest orientation look like? Should families attend?

We are excited to welcome all members of our Poet community to campus, including family members and other loved ones. Our Orientation Team has created a special component of the Orientation program just for families and guests. 

Are there any fees associated with Orientation if I decide to come?

Though students are charged an Orientation fee (that is part of their tuition), families and guests are not required to pay a fee to attend Orientation family programs. 

New Student Checklist

Do students have a checklist of things they need to accomplish in preparation for their arrival on campus?

Whittier College has prepared a New Student Checklist to assist new students in completing required elements as they transition into their college experience. The checklist includes links to the online housing portal, important forms for health and medical clearances, and many more items that you may find useful as you prepare to arrive to campus.

Who do I contact if I have trouble with accessing the new student checklist or with course registration?

The Center for Advising and Academic Success (CAAS) oversees all academic course registration processes to assist new students as they select their first classes at Whittier College. Financial Matters

When will students get their tuition bill? How can I access it?

Students can access their bill via their my.Whittier account. Parents and family members can access student's tuition bill only if that student grants access on their my.Whittier account through Poet Proxy Access.
