Whether you're local, visiting Southern California, or learning about Whittier College from afar, there are numerous ways to discover Whittier College and everything it has to offer.

Whittier College’s fall open house, also known as Preview Day, gives you and your family a chance to see Whittier for yourself while you receive in-depth information about academics, support services, student life, and athletics.

The event is free and open to students in grades 9-12 as well as community college students looking to transfer to a four-year institution.

Tentative Schedule

9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. | Check-in and continental breakfast

9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. | Welcome remarks

10 a.m. to 11 a.m. | Information Session One | Choose from the following

  • It's Okay to be Undecided | Majoring in the Social Sciences | Study Abroad

11 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Information Session Two | Choose from the following

  • Majoring in a STEM program | Studying the Visual and Performing Arts | Student Services and Wellbeing

12 p.m. to 1 p.m. | Information Session Three | Choose from the following

  • Design your Own Major at Whittier | What are the Humanities? | Career Services, Internships, and Fellowships

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. | The Whittier Experience Showcase and Fair 

Enjoy a complimentary lunch from a variety of food trucks. Whittier professors and staff will be available to answer questions about majors and student services. A kids zone and games will also be available for your enjoyment. 

In-Person Campus Tours

These tours are geared toward prospective students and their families. If you are a counselor or teacher who wishes to schedule a tour for a group of students, please navigate to the Counselor Resources menu below to request a Group Tour.

Self-Guided Tours are offered every day, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

First-Year Appointments

We understand you may have unique questions that our website did not answer. Admission Counselors are available for one-on-one virtual appointments to answer questions, conduct Instant Decision interviews, review your application or admitted student checklist, discuss financial aid options, or just talk more about Whittier in general. 

Transfer Appointments

All transfer applicants are encouraged to schedule an initial appointment with a Transfer Admission Counselor. During your appointment, a counselor will review your transcripts and give you a personalized transfer pathway to Whittier College.

You can also make an appointment to apply via Instant Decision.

International Students

Starting your college career in a different country can certainly be daunting. Director of International Admission & Services, Shim Shimaz is here to work with you and your family to ensure that this transition is as seamless as possible.

High School Group Tours

Group visits are ideal for any high school counselor or teacher who would like to bring a group of students to tour Whittier College. Please fill out a Reservation Request if you wish to participate. Your request will be reviewed by the Campus Visit Coordinator within 2 business days. If you have any questions about requesting a group visit, please email vprogram@whittier.edu.

Elementary and Middle School Group Tours

Whittier College welcomes elementary and middle school groups for field trips to our campus. Visits are scheduled through the Center for Engagement with Communities. Please use the Fifth Dimension website contact form to begin the scheduling process.

Bus Scholarship

The Office of Admission is happy to offer our Campus Visit Bus Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year. This scholarship aims to alleviate some of the costs associated with field trips and transportation expenses. If selected, this scholarship will cover the costs of transportation to our campus and a meal for your attendees. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is October 1.

Campus Tours
