Department of Chemistry

Whittier College's Department of Chemistry is home to a dynamic group of scholars, whose interests in chemistry and biochemistry are broad and connect with many other fields, and who have a strong foundational knowledge and a passion for cutting-edge research.

Among the graduates of our program are Ph.D. research chemists and biochemists, doctors, pharmacists, teachers, lawyers, forensic scientists, public health officials, and genetic counselors, to name a few.

Students in our program are encouraged to develop their ideas and test their theories through student-faculty research projects within the department, as well as through their own self-designed senior project.
