Reporting Incidents to Campus Safety

Incidents can be reported to the Department of Campus Safety by dialing 562.907.4211 from any campus telephone. 

In the event of a life-threatening emergency, Whittier Police Department should be notified first by calling 911 (or 9-911 from an on campus telephone). When making a crime or incident report, a Campus Safety officer will meet the reporting person(s) and gather all of the necessary information for a report and begin an investigation, if necessary. When appropriate, victims will be advised to contact the law enforcement to file an additional report.

Types of incidents that should be reported include

  • Murder/Non-Negligent Manslaughter
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Arson
  • Stalking
  • Suspicious people/activity on campus
  • Forcible/non-forcible sex offenses
  • Burglary
  • Dating violence
  • Hate Crimes (involving theft, vandalism, intimidation, simple assault)
  • Robbery
  • Motor vehicle theft
  • Domestic violence
  • Drug/liquor law violations

Please be prepared to describe the incident, where it occurred, and at what time. If there are suspects, be prepared to provide identifying information such as the individuals' appearance and clothing worn (i.e. approximate height and weight, hair type and color, and color of clothing).
