Requirements for the Minor in Global Languages
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers two options for minoring in Global Languages: a two-language track and a three-language track.
Two-Language Track
- Three courses in language 1
- Two courses in language 2
- An intercultural/global intercultural project in one or more of the chosen languages (CHIN, FREN, SPAN 299 for 0 or 1 credit)
Three-Language Track
- Two courses in language 1 and in language 2
- One course in language 3
- An intercultural/global intercultural project in one or more of the chosen languages (CHIN, FREN, SPAN 299 for 0 or 1 credit)
Students may count up to two courses taken for the Global Languages minor for any other minor/major in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.
Proficiency
Students should receive a C or higher in each course in the language sequence or be subject to disqualification from the minor.
Interculturality
Students should demonstrate developing good or strong levels of intercultural competency with each language studied. Examples: cultural content, register, gestures, idiomatic expressions, daily life, intercultural similarities/differences.
