Information provided to the College, including e-mail addresses, conventional mail addresses, and telephone numbers will not be used for any commercial or philanthropic purpose not directly connected with, or approved by, Whittier College; nor will copies be made; nor will the original information or a copy be given, lent, or sold to any other individual or organization.
When you are completing an online gift transactions through the Whittier College website, you are utilizing a secure server, which encrypts all of your personal information, including name, address, and credit card number. Encryption ensures that no one can access or use your personal information. With encryption the information cannot be read as it travels over the Internet. Additionally, credit card numbers are used only for payment processing and are not retained for other purposes. We collect only the information required to process transactions. All credit card information is sent directly to the processor's site and is not available to the College.
Charitable gifts are generally not refundable. However, if you believe there has been a credit card processing error (such as a double charge) or you clearly intended to make a gift to another entity, we will honor your request for a refund made within 120 days of your gift.
To request a refund, call 562.907.4209. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment, except cash donations will be returned via check. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card. In the exceptional case that a refund is issued, it is the responsibility of the donor to correct any tax filings to reflect the refunded amount.
Refunds of registration fees will be given for cancellations received 7 days prior to the event. Special circumstances will be taken into consideration. If the individual cannot attend the event and would like the event cost to become a charitable contribution for tax purposes, the individual must notify the Office of Alumni Relations.
