"Dress for Success" Can Look Different

Certain professional atmosphere's will want you to be in gray and black, slacks and shiny shoes. Some environments may require you to wear the brand of the company. During your job search process, you'll want to find out what the dress code is.

However, professional image does not stop with dress. It is also includes how you carry yourself and engage with colleagues, clients, and business acquaintances: proper handshakes, your speech, the word choices and tone of your emails, your telephone voice, how you behave during meetings, etc. Students transitioning into their first workplace will want to consider the formal and informal ways their new colleagues dress and communicate.
