Professor Shannon Stanton and students practice the martial art of tai-chi in a park in Beijing. As part of the course A Cross-Cultural Examination of K-12 Education: United States and China, Stanton, along with Professor Kay Sanders and eight graduate and undergraduate students from the education department, traveled overseas to the cities of Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai to engage in a hands-on exploration of the Chinese educational system and associated legislation. The group visited five schools throughout the three cities - a private high school, a public K-12 school, a University of Commerce, a trade college, and an EFT language school for adults - where they sat in on classes, interacted with Chinese students during physical education, and took part in one-on-one conversations.
